Hickory Chess Club began in our founder Larry Robinson's home. He invited several friends over for regular competition. As numbers of players increased the club moved to public venues to accommodate the growing number of chess players who showed up.

Over the years the club has move around as time and circumstances dictated. In the past the chess club has met on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University and at the Miller YMCA in Hickory. Currently, we appreciate the hospitality of the Patrick Beaver Library in Hickory, NC. You'll find us there each Tuesday evening 5:00-8:30 PM for good natured competition.
